Primarily a typography study, but there is meaning behind this.
This piece is really a play on words. The word "understand" is referring to sorting out the meaning of post modernism. But at the same time the word is read as "under stand", as in "under the stand." It refers to the oppression a view on life that depicts no purpose for living can have. A view that has no purpose eats and burns away its captives, leaving nothing behind except smoke.
Wow, all your deviations have such depth behind them that's awe inspiring!! I really like this one.^^ <3 The colors are perfect and set the mood quite nicely.

so, you think the authors of the english language intended your literal definition, or that they blindly stuck two words together, not realizing the destruction they had caused?
are you, getting all this inspiration from school? I'm thoroughly impressed, your definetly a role model for me
Well the English language has taken a long time to develop and many people have been part of its development. So they probably didn't mean the same thing that I'm trying to say.
Here is a really good article with some information on the word's development before the 12th century "Middle English, from Old English understandan, from under + standan to stand" [link]
Looking at this though, it sounds more like the two words are referring to standing under something and being enlightened. Being a latin scholar would probably help a lot on this (which I'm not sadly).
Inspiration has primarily been from school and reflecting on the extremely large number of books I've consumed as of late. Which would be something like 8 books alone for the past two and a half months...

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
Hello there! This news article is the result of a thumb share thread I posted few days ago on the dA forum along with pictures from my favorites. I hope you enjoy them.
